Job Description

Our client, a well-established nonprofit organization serving the Dallas community, is seeking an Accountant to join their finance department. This mission-driven organization operates multiple programs focused on education, health services, and community development with an annual budget of $15M. The finance team is committed to transparency, accountability, and effective stewardship of donor resources.

This role provides excellent training in fund accounting, grant management, and nonprofit financial operations. Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger and process journal entries for multiple fund classifications
  • Assist with grant accounting including budget tracking and expenditure reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for board meetings and program directors
  • Reconcile bank accounts and investment accounts on monthly basis
  • Process donor contributions and maintain accurate records in fundraising database
  • Support preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecast updates
  • Assist with annual audit and Form 990 preparation
  • Monitor grant compliance and ensure proper documentation of restricted funds
  • Process accounts payable and maintain vendor relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience (internships considered)
  • Interest in nonprofit sector and mission-driven work
  • Basic understanding of fund accounting principles preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work product
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor and financial information
  • Team player with positive attitude and willingness to learn
