Hands N Paws, a trusted in-home pet care business based in Columbus, Ohio, is looking for a reliable and flexible Emergency Coverage Pet Care Specialist to join our team!

In this crucial role, you’ll be the go-to person for handling last-minute and emergency pet care needs. When unexpected situations arise and/or our regular team members are unable to make it to visits because of their paced schedules, you’ll step in to ensure our clients' pets receive the care they need. Your role will provide peace of mind to pet parents by offering a dependable solution during these unforeseen events.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Reliability

   • Be dependable and ready to step in when unexpected situations arise, ensuring pets are always cared for.

2. Flexibility

   • Maintain availability to handle short-notice requests, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Adaptability is key to providing excellent care during off-hours.

3. Jumping in for Coverage

   • Step in for coverage needs when team members are unable to make their scheduled visits, as directed by a supervisor.

4. Travel & Service Areas

   • Travel across our service areas, including Bexley, Clintonville, Upper Arlington, Hilliard, and more, to provide care for pets in their homes.

5. Urgency & Response Time

   • Respond promptly to urgent visit requests. Quick decision-making and swift action are essential in this role.

6. Compensation & Perks

   • Earn a $200 monthly stipend by completing a minimum of 30 visits per month. If fewer visits are completed, the stipend is pro-rated.
   • Receive a 60% commission for each backup visit, rewarding reliability and flexibility.
   • Get reimbursed 1.5x your gas expenses as a thank-you for travel and wear-and-tear on your vehicle.

Experience and Skills:

• Prior experience in pet sitting, dog walking, or animal care is highly preferred.
• Comfortable handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and quick decision-making skills.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
• Own a smartphone with unlimited data for app usage.
• Ability to respond promptly to emergency requests.
• Willingness to undergo a background check.
• Reside within or near the Columbus, Ohio service area.
