Food Safety Director Location Kenosha, WI :

We are currently hiring a Food Safety Director for our Kenosha, WI location .

The Food Safety Director is responsible for the execution and implementation of the requirements, policies, procedures, programs and training components of the Food Safety Programs, as well as key microbiology testing for our processing facilities located in Kenosha, WI and Chicago, IL.

The Food Safety Director will oversee the Quality assurance Technicians, Documentation Specialists, Sanitation and FSQA Managers. This position serves as the lead for product recall communications, regulatory inspections, SQF/USDA audits and sustainability efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Develop, execute and implement key microbiology and food safety programs (including HACCP/Food Safety plan expectations)

· Leverage expertise to troubleshoot microbiological and food safety/quality related issues

· Perform/Validate risk assessments of facilities, programs, processes, products, ingredients and shelf-life

· Support in the validation and verification of processing and detection equipment

· Ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulatory requirements (Federal, State and Local)

· Track effectiveness of the sanitation function/programs through development of robust pre-operational inspection program & SSOPs

· Responsible to provide strong technical leadership for all aspects of the company's food safety programs, including HACCP, micro risk assessments, environmental programs, thermal validator, allergen management, foreign material controls

· Serve as a key point of contact for food safety related incidents;

· Provide guidance on product disposition, with authority to make recommendations to assure food safety is maintained

· Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all product coming into and shipping from our facilities meet all Food Safety requirements, quality standards, and specifications.

· Ensure that all company Food Safety and Quality Assurance procedures are followed and documented at all times

· Handle and oversee the product recall process to ensure timely communication and execution of product recalls and completion of related documentation.

· Work with vendors on ensuring that all federal, state, and local Food Safety regulations are in compliance.

· Instruct and advise managers and supervisors on GMP's and HACCP to promote continuous education.

· Provide data driven measures and analysis of trends relating to food safety performance to critical stakeholders

· Promote a strong food safety culture across the organization, creating an environment where decisions are made in line with quality value, and drives a technical understanding of food safety, risks and impacts into the business

· Drive a quality-first mindset with food safety built into business processes at the very earliest points

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Food Science, microbiology or related technical discipline

· Minimum ten (10) or more years of experience working within a food manufacturing organization with progressive roles in FS&Q

· Experience with FSMA, HACCP/HARPC plan design, measurement, documentation, & training required

· Food Safety Skills: GFSI, SQF, GMP's, HACCP, CCP

· Prior experience with 3rd party food safety audits

· Understanding of basic microbiological principles, in depth foodborne pathogen knowledge

· Strong written & verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strength and ability to work effectively with teams are required

· Knowledge of food laws and U.S regulations

· Strong auditing and assessment skills are required

· Willingness to travel
