Job Description
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs both invasive and non-invasive procedures required for cardiovascular and cardiac electrophysiologic system diagnosis and therapeutic interventions according to established safety procedures. Provides patient care during procedures.II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential: standing, sitting, lifting and pushing/pulling maximum weight of 50 pounds of force, carrying usual weight of 10 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object. Continuous: seeing, hearing, speaking. Occasional: stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, finger dexterity. Operates various office equipment/machines, radiologic/hemodynamic/electrophysiologic equipment.III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Subjected to noise/vibration from radiographic equipment. Frequent exposure to body fluids, communicable diseases, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and radiation. Exposed to chemical odors and skin irritants. Work environment is fast paced and stressful with constant changes in priorities. Assigned on-call schedule as required.IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: Current status as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); or one (1) year work experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist in a comparable Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory may be substituted for the certification requirement. CPR certification in BCLS and ACLS.B. EXPERIENCE: In addition to certification or its equivalency, one (1) year work experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist in a comparable Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Experience and demonstrated knowledge in cardiac caths, percutaneous coronary interventions, pacemaker/ICD implants, valvuloplasties, and electrophysiology studies.
