Junior Technical Writer

Location: On-site (Ashburn, VA)

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Technical Writer to support federal and commercial proposal development. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone interested in professional writing, government contracting, or business development. The Junior Technical Writer will assist with proposal preparation, documentation, and drafting to ensure submissions are compliant, organized, and high-quality.

Responsibilities

Collaboration: Work closely with the Proposal Manager and Senior Writers to align on deliverables.
Solicitation Review: Read and summarize RFPs, RFIs, and SOWs to identify requirements, deadlines, and compliance criteria.
Template & Outline Development: Assist in creating proposal templates, outlines, and section structures.
Compliance Support: Help draft and update compliance matrices to track requirements against responses.
Initial Drafting: Prepare first-draft narrative content and boilerplate sections (corporate background, staffing approach, etc.).
Document Management: Maintain version control, consistent formatting, and branding across files.
Editing & Proofing: Review drafts for grammar, clarity, consistency, and compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to analyze complex documents and extract key requirements.
Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred but not required: Exposure to the proposal lifecycle (RFP/RFI process).
