Job Description

Scheck Hillel Community School, a large Orthodox Jewish community school located in sunny North Miami Beach, Florida, is currently accepting resumes for experienced full-time Middle School Social Studies teachers for the 2025-2026 school year.

Guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their individual academic and social-emotional potential. Specifically, this position is designed to implement and realize the Scheck Hillel educational vision for students & faculty.

Students

Faculty
Scheck Hillel faculty plan in high-performing collaborative teams where maximizing student achievement and personal growth are the priority. Learning targets and success criteria are clarified, refined and communicated to guide personalized instruction. Meaningful relationships support rigorous learning expectations along with highly engaging experiences (both in & out of class), all intentionally designed to maximize achievement, explore passions and foster identity. 

Responsibilities
  • Create a positive student-centered learning environment and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and encourages student engagement colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective curriculum
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning  that meet the needs of all learners
  • Communicate clear learning targets & success criteria to students for all learning activities.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. Develop formative and summative assessments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom to facilitate learning.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development as required by laws and school policies. 
  • Communicate consistently and in a timely manner with parents on their child’s academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements.
  • Maintain safety & security of the students in the classroom and common school areas.  
  • Supervise students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips, school assemblies.
  • Attend all parent teacher conferences, back to school nights, and faculty meetings.
  • Supervise lunch and recess. 
  • Stay up-to-date on current educational trends and research to continually improve teaching practice.
  • Facilitate office hours.
  • Document lesson plans, assessments, and curriculum in Atlas. Post materials, assignments, and grades to the school's LMS (ehillel) in a timely manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Dedication to creating a nurturing and challenging learning environment for our students
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a Upper school setting (6-12)
  • Valid teaching certification, preferred 
  • Strong knowledge of pedagogical practices and learning theories
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
