Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Program Engineer specializing in Electrical Design. In this role, you will be responsible for the design engineering of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will oversee project workflows and schedules while collaborating effectively with our dedicated subcontractors. A thorough knowledge of functional disciplines and applicable industry codes is essential, as you will be making critical technical decisions that align with the criteria established by regulatory authorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or review electrical system design deliverables, including single-line diagrams, equipment and system requirement specifications, engineering studies, inspection, test, analysis, and acceptance criteria (ITAAC).
  • Reconcile regulatory requirements, codes, and standards for both domestic and international electrical system designs.
  • Coordinate the design of electrical systems in line with project objectives, ensuring adherence to project plans and schedules.
  • Conduct independent design reviews of subcontractor work products and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about industry advancements and best practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality designs.
  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary reviews, ensuring that interfacing disciplines' work products are integrated effectively.
  • Develop, review, and implement project requirements and schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of project goals.

Minimum Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferably with a power option) from a four-year ABET-accredited institution. A professional engineer license or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the commercial nuclear power sector within a design and/or systems engineering capacity. Up to 2 years of naval nuclear power experience may count toward this requirement.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong technical writing and communication skills are essential, complemented by proficiency in computer applications and presentation tools.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional ability to manage complex projects that encompass multiple work phases.
  • Adaptability: Quick to understand and apply new information and concepts in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred Experience: Familiarity with the design and installation of DC and AC distribution systems, cable and raceway systems, and the development of testing and installation procedures for commercial nuclear plants. Experience with mapping NRC regulatory requirements to electrical system design is highly desirable.

Industry Requirements:

  • Candidates must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Physical Demands: Candidates should be capable of performing essential job functions, including effective communication with team members and utilizing office equipment. This role may require occasional travel, which necessitates proficiency with various forms of transportation.
