Since 2015, Nevada Behavioral Health Systems has been providing mental health and substance abuse services to residents across Nevada. By collaborating with a diverse network of experienced behavioral healthcare providers, we have built a community-based care system that offers members personalized options tailored to their individual needs. In 2023, we rebranded as NovumHealth with the expansion of our services in Arizona, California, and Utah.
Position: Therapist
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah – Onsite (This role is not eligible for Remote or Hybrid)
Starting Salary Range: $95,000 The starting salary range for this role is a reasonable estimate, with a goal to pay a competitive market salary focusing near the median of our pay ranges. However, final offers for all positions will be based on several factors such as experience level, education and certification, skills, and internal pay equity.
What’s the role? The Therapist will provide therapeutic support for clients with mental health, behavioral health and substance abuse issues. All Therapy Services must be conducted in the office or at one of our support/crisis center locations (E.g., teletherapy to be done in office). We focus on the promotion of recovery, symptom reduction, increasing coping skills, and the achievement of the highest level of social functioning.
What you’ll do: The following are some responsibilities a therapist may have on any given day.
Conducting Assessments and Evaluations: - Perform comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations to diagnose mental health disorders and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Utilize a variety of assessment tools and techniques to gather information about clients mental health status.
Providing Individual and Group Therapy:
- Offer evidence-based individual therapy sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions to provide support, build coping skills, and promote interpersonal growth among clients.
Developing and Implementing Treatment Plans:
- Collaborate with clients to create personalized treatment plans that outline therapeutic goals and strategies.
- Regularly review and adjust treatment plans based on clients' progress and changing needs.
Maintaining Accurate and Confidential Records:
- Document all client interactions, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information in accordance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Ensure all client records are kept confidential and secure.
Providing Crisis Intervention and Support:
- Respond to clients in crisis situations with immediate therapeutic intervention to ensure safety and stability.
- Provide ongoing support and resources to help clients manage crises and prevent future occurrences.
What you’ll bring:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of interactive treatment/therapy of patients with mental health concerns.
- Knowledge of clinical documentation requirements.
- Knowledge of state and community resources for patients with mental health conditions.
- Knowledge of current concepts, theories, and terminology used in diagnosis and treatment of persons in need of behavioral health care.
Skills:
- Strong leadership ability and excellent verbal and written communication.
- Skills in evaluation of family dynamics, social influences, and interpersonal relationships.
- Skills in interaction with clients and their families, in therapeutic intervention, interviewing patients and family members/community representatives.
Abilities:
- Ability to provide counseling interventions that build on individual and family strengths and addresses ongoing mental health needs and improve coping skills.
- Ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments and treatment plans.
- Ability to assess risk, safety, and crisis situations with ability to take necessary steps and develop safety plans.
- Ability to engage with diverse populations and provide interventions and services with cultural humility.
- Ability to interface and collaborate with other departments to contribute to the skill set and achieve common goals.
What you’ll need to start:
- Experience in providing on-call crisis services is highly beneficial.
- A master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field is required.
- State licensure as a mental health professional (e.g., Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist) is required.
What will make you stand out:
- Additional certifications in crisis intervention, drug and alcohol counseling, or trauma-informed care are advantageous.
- Experience with a wide variety of clients.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in mental health counseling or crisis intervention is preferred.
