Job Description

Community Mediation Services, Inc. seeks a qualified Training Specialist to facilitate group-based

learning and workshops for fathers in our Fatherhood Program, operating in Jamaica and Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City. This program is designed to support fathers in strengthening relationships with their children, co-parents, and communities while promoting self-sufficiency. Fathers will be engaged in a combination of case management, parenting skills training, support groups, family events and community projects. This position will deliver evidence-based parenting curricula, lead support groups, coordinate family events, and support fathers in developing stronger parenting and coparenting skills.

Some responsibilities include:

• Conduct outreach and recruitment for the Fatherhood Program
• Facilitate parenting skills training and related workshop curriculum
• Lead support group sessions, family events and community projects
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with agency staff and community partners
• Track and input attendance, outcomes and other data

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field and at least two years of facilitation experience (preferably in parenting, life skills, or adult support groups); OR an associate’s degree with significant related experience
• Strong interpersonal, advocacy, organizational, and facilitation skills
• Knowledge of trauma-informed, restorative, and culturally responsive practices
• Familiarity with NYC systems (courts, housing, benefits, workforce, etc.) preferred
• Must be available to manage a flexible full-time schedule, as responsibilities include some evening and weekend commitments

Base Pay: From $56,500.00 per year
