Job Title: Silicone / Organic Rubber Chemist
Department: Product Development Supervisor/Manager: Vice President of Operations Location: Weatherford, TX Summary: The responsibilities of the Chemist includes material requirement analysis, silicone compound development, technical sales support, raw material evaluation, and acting as the liaison between Manufacturing and Purchasing, Sales and Engineering
Job Responsibilities: - Understand material specifications and testing requirements to recommend suitable compounds.
- Build bill of material for new compounds and update current formulations.
- Continuous evaluation of formulations and their cost.
- Technical resource for sales support and quality initiatives.
- Manage external material suppliers as needed. Establish new suppliers and formula alternatives.
- Act as project manager on material development initiatives.
- Standard work creation for lab equipment, tests, and procedures.
- Work with Customer Service and Sales to meet customer requirements.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry and two years of polymer chemistry / manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of polymer chemistry.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications (especially Excel).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpretational skills, and superior organizational abilities as well as exceptional multitasking skills.
- Need the ability to analyze situations to ensure the correct resolution is reached.
- Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.
